There is a lot that I love about the Mitsouko EDT and EDPs. But the Play-Doh scent just ruins it for me.
Is it as prominent in the parfum? I don't know anywhere that allows testing of parfums.
I guess there's no introduction thread, so I'll do it here.
I was a Perfumista on this board over a year ago. My interest in perfume comes and goes. It went when I became poor and had to stop buying. :) So I stopped coming around here. My account was deleted, so I have to start over, post-count wise.
A lot seems to have changed around here, but I still remember some of the old regulars, and I hope some of you remember me. I used to be a lawyer in my mid-twenties in Minneapolis when I was here before. Now I'm a few years older and headed back to graduate school. To jog your memory, I'm a Guerlain fan.
It's nice to be back.

Lolly! so happy to see you back. I remember your hilarious stories of Mona the SA! (do I have that right?)
I found a set of mini (and I mean itty-bitty!) Guerlain parfums on ebay a couple of years ago. Mitsouko parfum has dark brown mossy depths that the other forms don't - I love it. Play-doh doesn't really appear for me in the other strengths of Mitsouko, so I can't say if it's in the parfum. I do get it a bit in LHB, and I've always heard it associated with heliotrope notes, which I don't find in Mitsouko.

I don't have the money to buy the parfum right now, but I'm dying to try it. Here's a bottle up for sale right now on eBay:

QUOTE (lolly5377 @ Nov 17 2005, 04:11 AM)

I don't get a play-do scent from Mitsouko in any form. The edt is sharp and crisp, the edp is smoother and heavy on the peach, the pure parfum is spicier and leaning slightly to the oriental side. I greatly prefer the parfum for winter and the edt for summer. For whatever reason, the edp often feels too strong, yes, stronger than the pure parfum but the edp is almost monotonous compared to the many facets of the pure parfum.

I agree 100% with Chanel22!! I could not have said it better! The EdT is light and crisp, the EdP is smoother and richer, and the parfum is spicier and more complex. I LOVE the EdT any time. In the right weather and the right frame of mind, the parfum is without equal. But the EdP I can take or leave. Isn't that odd???
Sadly (well, happily for me), I do not get a play-doh note from any of them, so I cannot promise you it will be missing from your perception of the parfum. But it is such a masterful creation that it is worth a try!!

The Parfum strength is just so amazing.
My friend Marilyn always has a parfum tester on her Guerlain counter and everytime I visit her, I have a spray.

No playdoe in Mitsouko,I think it is the heliotrope which is in many Guerlain that accounts for it. But Mitsouko doesn't have it.
The parfum is lush ripe rich smooth but soft.

I thought people got the Play-Doh note from L'Heure Bleue, and not Mitsouko...
I find the parfum version of Mitsouko easier to wear - it's richer and blooms quite splendidly... the edt is nice but it's the parfum that convinced me I could wear Mitsouko.
At times the edt also has a note that reminds me of the neutralizing solution you use when you get permanent curls in your hair. I don't get that hair salon note in the parfum.

I understand that a lot of people don't smell Play-Doh in Mitsouko. But to me, it smells very similar to L'Heure Bleue, and the Play-Doh smell is one of those ways. I got it from Apres L'Ondee too.
Are y'all trying to tell me I'm imagining things? ;)
Thank you, people who gave me tips on bottles for sale. I may just make a purchase.
Yes, I'm the one who had run-ins with Mona!

I don't get the play doh note in L'Heure Bleue. I love Mitsuko in any form. I guess depends on the temperature.
I have to tread lightly when I wear l"heure bleue, mass doses give DH a headache. (I can spray anything else with reckless abandon, just not LHB
